Behind the scenes: making journalism transparent and human

  • Lea Korsgaard is co-founder and editor-in-chief of Zetland and part of the executive management of Zetland Media, a growing media house publishing Zetland in Denmark, Ussi Jutti in Finland, and expanding to a third market before the end of 2025. With 100 employees and more than 50,000 members across the organization, Zetland combines innovative text and audio journalism with a strong focus on audience engagement. Lea works at the intersection of journalism, creativity, technology, and business development. She is the author of The Media User's Manual to the Age of Lies and chairman of the board at the Danish School of Media and Journalism (DMJX).
  • Liesbeth Nizet is Head of Future Audiences Monetisation at Mediahuis, where she leads strategy and innovation at the intersection of journalism, audience behaviour, and sustainable growth. With two decades of experience in digital revenue growth, marketing leadership, and organizational transformation, she helps build sustainable, audience-first newsrooms — always with a sharp strategic lens and a people-first mindset.

How do you help your audience understand what journalism really is? In this interactive workshop, Lea Korsgaard (Zetland) and Liesbeth Nizet (Mediahuis) explore how Zetland opens up its editorial process to readers — from showing how stories are made to involving members in shaping them. After a short presentation, participants will reflect on how they can bring journalism and journalists closer to their own audiences. A session for anyone curious about transparency, trust, and participation in modern storytelling.
